Handirecords - Two videos that discuss the challenges with obtaining current and accurate history (medications, allergies, and medical history) from geriatric patients. The Handirecord is a tool for patients to document their history in a format that can be quickly accessed by EMTs, Paramedics, and other healthcare providers. While electronic medical record storage devices are already available most geriatric patients will not be early adopters of that technology. Meanwhile EMS providers should encourage all patients to use the Handirecord or something similar for keeping a current record of their medications and other important health information.

Adventure Medical Kits – Adventure Medical Kits sent me two first aid kits to give away to listeners of the Holistic Survival radio show. I recently taped an interview with them about individual and family preparedness for first aid emergencies and natural disasters. The interview is not yet scheduled to air, but will be soon. Life Tabs – Jeff Stewart sent me a packet of LifeTabs. The pocket sized Life Tabs are bright yellow with a sticky adhesive backing. Emergency personnel can apply these to auto-locking door strike plates when they access the scene. Then other emergency responders can continue to access the scene. This product would be appropriate for EMTs, emergency first responders, paramedics, firefighters, and police officers.
