Serious Gaming for EMS Providers Part 2
In part 2 of my discussion about I list 3 Reasons to download and play Zero Hour: America’s Medic. Part 1 of Serious Gaming for EMS Providers introducted Zero Hour and my experience playing the game.
- Usage, mission completion, and learning outcomes data is needed to determine if serious point of view gaming is a viable training options for EMS providers.
- Zero Hour is a new training method to learn new things, reinforce knowledge, and earn continuing education credits.
- Gaming harnesses the power of the microprocessor. Most of us have PCs with capabilities that far exceed our needs for web browsing, sending email, and typing documents. Most computer based training programs fall well short of maximizing the potential power of the microprocessor. Zero Hour is way beyond reading an HTML page or watching a computer video of your medical director’s lecture.
Get the inside scoop on the design and development of Zero Hour, what was left out in this version, and what might be possible in a future version in an EMSEduCast interview with Zero Hour project leader Gregg Lord.
