NuMask
The NuMaskis intaoral mask for ventilating an apneic or inadequately breathing patient. It is simple to use, fits a bag valve mask, and does not require maintaining a complex facial seal.
Remember, creating your own custom video is easy to do and it can significantly enhance an elearning program for in-service or demonstrating new equipment. This video was created with a handheld Flip video camera, the NuMask, a BVM, and two actors (a nurse and a paramedic). We shot the video in two takes and edited with Windows Movie Maker. The video was added to the EPS411 channel at YouTube. Now the embed code from YouTube can be added to websites orĀ blogs and the link can be emailed. Please share this video.
If you have used the NuMask tell me in the comments what you think of it and how it works. Thanks.

Using the patient’s own lips and teeth as a “mask seal” seems to be a good idea at first glance anyway. The comparison to a snorkel is compelling, but I didn’t find any links to any sort of study (3rd party or otherwise) on the manufacturer’s website. It would be nice if they would provide some actual hard data how this device is an improvement over current practice.
