5 Tips for a Good First Impression
How does a first impression affect your perception of a training program, co-worker, organization, or online education program?
I recently attended a training event at the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College EMS program. The classroom was clean, spacious, and equipped with modern instructional technology. The equipment storage area (see video below) was amazing. Jump kits were zipped shut and stacked. CPR supplies were drying after decontamination. If there was a heap of moth balled, out-of-date EMS equipment I could not find it.
- What is the first impression for students to your e-learning program?
- Does an instructor guide them through the initial registration and login?
- Once a student starts an online education lesson are they welcomed?
Try these ideas to make a good first impression with your e-learning content:
- Use a professional voice talent to record the audio
- Don’t use any clipart, especially bean people
- Use a design template that maximizes space for images, diagrams, and videos
- Respect student’s time by letting them know the total lesson length and requirements for completion
- If your intent is to verify knowledge unlock course navigation so students can review content they want to review or they can skip straight to the knowledge assessment quiz
