Production Process - Image Guidelines
EMS Magazine and EMS Expo recently announced a photo contest. The submission guidelines are applicable to image capturing for rapid e-learning programs. Below is the EPS adaptation of the submission guidelines.
- EPS wants permanent, non-exclusive rights to use your photo(s) in online education lessons. A service agreement will be used to grant rights to use your photo(s) to EPS. You must own all rights to the photo.
- Tell EPS exactly how you want the photo credit published.
- All photos must be high resolution digital files to give us the most flexibility to re-size and crop the photo for insertion into PowerPoint slides and interactive flash learning objects.
- The photographer retains full copyright to his\her images. EPS wants permanent, non-exclusive rights for use only in online education lessons.
- Photos will be eliminated from competition if they have date stamps on the photo, show unsafe practices, are of low technical quality , or if there are privacy issues.
- The photographer must maintain a file of signed photo releases from models in the photos.
In practice we have found it very difficult to both obtain model releases and organization permission to take photos of real patients. Staging photos is more time efficient and practical for capturing photos that specifically match the narration script for the Flash movie. If you are interested in submitting and licensing photos to EPS for use in online lessons use the contact form to explain your interest and experience with emergency responder photography.
