National FF Health Week (e-learning activities)
Every month has a week, a day, or an even the whole month that recognizes a specific causes, injury type, or prevention activity. An e-learning educator can find inspiration in promoted special weeks and build e-learning activities for their students.
For example, August 18-22 is National Firefighter Health Week. In preparation for and celebration of firefighter health an e-learning educator / training officer might:
- direct students, employees, volunteers to complete existing e-learning content on topics related to firefighter health (i.e. functional fitness, general safety, bloodborne pathogens, respiratory protection)
- design new content based on the resources available at the National Firefighter Health Week web site
- create scenarios or simulations using Articulate Engage Interactions to assess FF knowledge about health and fitness. Contact us for ideas.
- assign students to browse the National Firefighter Health Week web site and complete a specific set of tasks (think of this as a web scavenger hunt).
- ask students to look for other related web resources, like this post on how to go from sedentary to running in 5 steps. This could be a part of an FAQ or Top 5 list on how to become more fit
