NAEMSE Symposium Presentation – 9/10/2008

The Gateway to Enhanced PowerPoint Presentations: Creating Digital Case Studies
Kyle Bates, NR/CCEMT-P, FP-C
Greg Friese, MS, NREMT-P
National Association of EMS Educators Conference
St. Louis, MO September 10-15

Are your old presentations singing the blues? You know an image is worth a 1000 words, but images are rarely included in PowerPoint lectures. In this session, learn to use the tools you already have – a computer, PowerPoint, and a digital camera to create dynamic digital visual case studies to enhance any lecture. Participants will improve a medical problem lecture by planning, staging, and photographing a case study of assessment and treatment photos for the problem. Small groups will plan a shot list, use props and monologue, and apply basic digital camera techniques to capture custom images. Finally, participants will learn graphic design and imaging editing principles to increase the impact of their custom images. Bring your digital camera and PowerPoint equipped computer for this highly interactive and hands-on pre-conference workshop.
